How to Clean Eyeglasses (The Best Way) – 7 Pro Tips

Rinse first with water before wiping — this removes dust and grit so you don't scratch the lens while cleaning. Wash hands first — oil from fingers gets onto lenses. Use a mild soap (no lotion, no perfume) or a proper lens cleaning spray — never window cleaner, alcohol, or ammonia. Dry with a clean microfiber cloth — never a tissue, paper towel, or shirt/sleeve, these can scratch the coating. Wipe gently in circles, don't scrub hard. Never clean dry — dry-wiping grinds dust into the lens and causes tiny scratches. Clean the frame too — nose pads, hinges, and screws collect oil and sweat. Store properly — always in a hard case, lenses facing up, never lens-side down on a table. Don't push glasses onto the top of the head — this stretches and loosens the frame over time. Keep away from heat — never leave in a hot car or near a stove; heat can warp frames and damage coatings.
